Market Launch for AI-Powered Wound Measurement in ORBIS U.

imito AG and Dedalus Set New Standard in Digital Wound Care.

Bonn / Zurich, 26.03.2026 - The Swiss health-tech company imito AG and Dedalus HealthCare GmbH, Europe’s leading provider of healthcare software, announce the market release of their joint solution for AI-powered wound measurement. For the first time, clinics receive a scientifically validated, automatic wound analysis directly at the point of care - seamlessly embedded into the digital patient record.

Precision Instead of Estimates: Why This Partnership Matters

In daily wound care, nursing staff and physicians rely on dependable, comparable data. Yet, in many clinics, wound measurement is still based on paper rulers and the subjective assessment of individuals . coupled with separate documentation forms and manual data entry at a computer. The results: documentation gaps, healing progress that is difficult to compare, and unnecessary time expenditure.

The integration of WoundGenius into ORBIS U Nursing changes this fundamentally. Nursing staff capture the wound mobile-first via iOS tablets or optionally via ORBIS Info4U on iPhones - directly at the bedside. The AI automatically calculates the area, circumference, length, and width of the wound. All measurements and images flow seamlessly into the ORBIS U wound documentation, including automatic trend calculation. No system breaks, no double entry, no lost time.

Successful Pilot Confirms Practical Feasibility

The market release is based on a successful pilot project at the Asklepios Klinik Langen. In practical operation, what imito built through years of development with leading university hospitals was confirmed: automatic wound measurement is intuitive to use, clinically precise, and leads to a noticeable reduction in the daily nursing workload. Initial feedback from the pilot phase highlights the high user-friendliness and the ease of workflow.

What Specifically Changes for Clinics

  • Objectivity over Subjectivity: Scientifically validated wound measurement replaces manual estimates with a ruler, creating an objective, reproducible database for treatment decisions.
  • Automatic Measurement in Seconds: One photo is enough. The AI automatically detects the wound edges and calculates area, circumference, length, and width in seconds - directly at the patient’s bedside on any standard iOS device.
  • Seamless Workflow: All measurements and images are transferred directly and in a structured format into the ORBIS U wound documentation. No switching between systems, no manual transfer, no follow-up entry at a PC.
  • Improved Progress Monitoring: Thanks to automatic trend calculation, healing progress becomes objectively comparable over time - a crucial foundation for therapeutic adjustments and communication within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Noticeable Relief: The elimination of paper rulers, separate documentation forms, and manual data entry gives nurses back valuable minutes for what matters most: working with the patient.

Ten Years of Development, a Strategic Milestone

For imito AG, the partnership with Dedalus is the result of consistent, years-long product development. Since its founding in 2016, the Zurich-based team has built and clinically validated its technology in close cooperation with leading university hospitals such as University Hospital Basel, UKE Hamburg-Eppendorf, and CHUV Lausanne. Today, over 70 clinics and more than 100,000 medical professionals worldwide trust imito solutions.

The fact that Dedalus - with ORBIS being the most widely used Hospital Information System (HIS) in Germany - is opting for WoundGenius underscores the maturity and clinical relevance of the technology.

Voices on the Partnership

"We build technology that doesn't hold nurses and doctors back, but rather has their backs. The fact that Dedalus, as a leading HIS provider in Europe, is integrating WoundGenius into its core system is far more than a product partnership for us - it is confirmation that our ten years of development work are setting the standard for the AI-powered wound care of the future." - Chrysanth Sulzberger, CEO and Co-founder of imito AG

"With the successful release of ORBIS U Nursing - Wound Measurement, we are expanding our wound management with an innovative, digital solution for precise and integrated wound analysis. Mobile capture, as well as automatic measurement and documentation, ensure standardized results, a noticeable reduction in daily nursing workloads, and a higher quality of nursing documentation." - Giso Langer, Chief Product Engineering & Technology Officer, Dedalus HealthCare

Availability

The ORBIS U Nursing - Wound Measurement solution is available immediately for all Dedalus customers. Capture is performed via mobile devices through ORBIS U Wound Management on iOS tablets and optionally via ORBIS Info4U on iPhones. Both companies will present the joint solution publicly at DMEA 2026 (April 21–23, Berlin).
