French clinical researcher report “good validity and reproducibility of the imitoMeasure app” in the clinical evaluation of pressure ulcer

French clinical researcher report “good validity and reproducibility of the imitoMeasure app” in the clinical evaluation of pressure ulcer

Do Khacet al., compared imito's free app imitoMeasure (iOS, Android) for measuring wounds with ruler and acetate tracing (the current reference standard) in the clinical evaluation of pressure ulcer in a clinical validation study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04402398).1

Based on 61 investigated pressure ulcers, the imitoMeasure app demonstrated:

  • an excellent validity as well as intra- and inter-rater reproducibility for wound length, width and surface area measurements with ICCs (intraclass correlation coefficients) >0.90
  • some inter-rater variability particularly for wounds on curved skin surfaces

The authors also pointed out that imitoMeasure:

  • is easily accessible and usable (“without any prior training aside from the guidelines given to users by the company") by nurses and physicians
  • saves time during wound assessment

They concluded imitoMeasure “could be a proper alternative to standard wound assessment methods”.

We at imito are aware of the challenges encountered by measuring curved skin surfaces and are continuously working on solutions to enhance our measurement technology to provide the best possible outcome/user experience for our customers.
