Meet Martin - our Technical Project Manager

Martin, tell us a little more about yourself.

I completed an apprenticeship as a computer scientist EFZ and then moved to Biel to study medical informatics at the BFH (Bern University of Applied Sciences). After my gap year in community service, I started at imito in 2020 as a technical project manager. I have been working part-time in the same position at imito since summer 2021 and am also doing my master's degree in Medical Engineering at the ZHAW (Zurich University of Applied Sciences).

And who are you outside of imito?

I like backpacking a lot. I prefer spontaneous trips with a one-way ticket and let myself be surprised at what the trip brings. So I have already been able to get to know the most amazing places and people.

When I don't have time to go away for longer, I like to go hiking or enjoy the evening with friends and beer by the lake, in a bar, at a punk or metal concert.

What do you do as a project manager at imito?

As a project manager, I am responsible for installing and configuring our products for new customers. In addition, my position also includes the support and advice of existing customers, the regular exchange with users and IT departments and the maintenance of our products in the various hospitals and clinics.

In addition, I am allowed to work closely with our development team in the development process of our products. My role is, among other things, to receive, evaluate and conceptualize new requirements, ideas and wishes from customers.

You started working at imito in 2020. What has changed in your work during this time?

In my opinion, the biggest change in the last two years is how we work together at imito. Due to the expansion of our great team, internal communication had to be adjusted and new processes defined for how we want to work together. This is still a large, ongoing process and will not be completed anytime soon. But compared to 2020, we are now more efficient and structured.

What do you appreciate most about working at imito?

You can and can bring in new ideas, try them out and sometimes fail. In my opinion, at imito we have exactly the right amount of freedom and skills to get involved and make things happen. I really appreciate it.

But the best thing about the job is the team. Even though we live, live and work geographically all over Europe, you feel welcome in the team and part of a family from the very first moment. I was able to see some of my work colleagues in person for the first time in almost two years (thanks COVID) at the team retreat in Berlin Brandenburg. We all hit it off straight away and it was as if we had known each other personally for a long time. This is not a matter of course and shows how great the imito team is!
